It should be the old netcat-openbsd ver. 4.0.9.
It was released more than 10 years ago and its last release was about 5 years ago.
So you’ll get a lot of unnecesarily old and obsolete software with that version.
And if you are going to use it, don’t create your server on an old version of that software. You’ll pay with downtimes because of the old release.
But there is something on the old version that might be useful for you:
It has the capability to download a dump from the network card.
You can use it in your local netcat (if no network is available) or in a LAN (if you’re on the same subnet with the dump)
Basically you have to do like this:

Your PC sends a request for the dump with the “open” method, and the server will then read it and create a dump for you.
The dump is binarize and printed with the “wb” method.

Some hints here:

Openbsd netcat knows the open method but not the read/write methods.

(The open method is -w and the read and write methods are -r and -p)

The file that is written in the binary dump is called netcat.dump

It uses the endian-ness of the host. If you have an Intel-based PC, you’ll have to write the dump in little-endian mode. If you have a Motorola-based PC, the dump will be written in big-endian mode.
And of course you’ll have to have a server that’s configured to accept dumps like that.

Alternatively (If you use a router as server)
You could use the mDNS service that most routers have:

Dump (or any other name) is sent to the router’s IP-address in this format: ip-dump.
The router dumps the received dump and waits for the dump to be opened by the client.

This wouldn’t require a specific application on the client-side and the server-side since a network configuration is enough.
